Wild Flowers.
Although the dunes in Strathy Bay were created by wind blown sand and are still changed by wind and tide today, over time a thin layer of humus has formed in many areas and as well as fine grasses, this supports a surprisingly wide range of wild flowers. The thin layer of humus that supports these plants is fragile and easily damaged and visitors should not drive vehicles on the dunes, dig fire pits or use single use BBQ’s on the turf. Some of the wild flowers that may be seen during spring and summer are shown below.
